Strawberry Tea – 22nd August
We begin with our Strawberry Tea on 22nd August, with stalls from 2pm. Come along and enjoy a lovely afternoon with us, browse the stalls and, of course, enjoy some delicious strawberry treats!
Looking Ahead to September
There is plenty more to look forward to:
Messy Church – 2nd September, 2–4pm
Join us at the Beach Huts for an afternoon of fun, creativity, food and faith. Messy Church is a great opportunity for families to come together and everyone is welcome.
Music Workshop – 5th September, 10am–12 noon
Our music workshop takes place at St John’s and is open to anyone who is interested in music. Whether you already sing or play, or simply have an interest in music, come along and join us.
Thanksgiving for the Choir – 6th September, 10am
We will be celebrating and giving thanks for our choir, as well as marking the retirement of Liz Watson, our Choir Leader. We are very grateful for all that Liz has given to our church and choir over the years, and we look forward to celebrating with her.
Quiz Night – 11th September, 7pm
Come along to St John’s for a fun quiz night. Please check the final details for the cost and whether you are asked to bring a bag of harvest tins or packets.
Ride and Stride & Open Church – 12th September
We will be taking part in Ride and Stride, with three cyclists riding for us, while St John’s will also be open throughout the day. Do pop in, whether you are taking part in the event or simply passing by.
Harvest Celebration – 26th September, 10.30am
We will be celebrating Harvest at St Edmund’s, giving particular thanks for our volunteers at Pitstop, the Parish Pantry and all our church volunteers. It is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the people who give their time and energy so generously to support our community.
St John’s is Open Every Day
A reminder that St John’s Church is open every day from 9am–5pm.
You are very welcome to come in at any time. Light a candle, say a prayer, spend a few quiet moments, use the children’s area or explore the history of our church. Whether you come for a particular reason or simply need somewhere peaceful to sit, you are very welcome.
Both of our churches have the words:
“Peace I leave with you, peace I give to you.”
We hope that everyone who comes through our doors will find something of God’s peace here.
A Peaceful Trip Along the River
We also had a wonderful and very peaceful trip along the river as part of Pitstop.
A huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers who helped make the trip so special, and to Mind Body & Sea CIC for their support. We are particularly grateful to Liss for organising everything and making this lovely experience possible.
It was a grand day out, filled with friendship, fresh air and the opportunity simply to enjoy being together.
Here are some pictures from our trip.
We look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events. There really is something for everyone, and we would love you to come along, whether you are a regular member of our churches or someone visiting us for the first time.
You are always very welcome.
